AI inside Wix: what really helps a small business and what is a gimmick

Open your Wix dashboard and the word "AI" shows up on almost every screen. Text generator, image generator, newsletter writer, the Astro assistant, and since January the new Harmony site builder.
Our clients all ask the same question: which of these is worth testing, and which one just looks nice in a menu?
Here is our sorting, after trying them on about thirty Wix Studio sites we manage. No copied Wix documentation, just what held up in daily use.
What Wix files under "AI" today
The scope has grown a lot in two years. According to the overview by Website Builder Expert, updated in August 2025, Wix now counts more than fifteen so-called AI features. The main ones:
The AI text creator, inside the editor, to write or shorten a paragraph.
The AI image creator, which generates a visual in a chosen style.
AI product descriptions for Wix Stores.
The meta tag generator (SEO title and description).
The email and social media caption generator.
Astro, the conversational assistant in the dashboard.
Harmony, the new site builder driven by the Aria agent.
Almost everything is included in every plan, the free one included. Only a few pieces, such as the meta tag generator, require a premium plan, according to the same source.
Good news then: you are already paying for these tools. The question is not the price, it is the time you will spend on them.
Useful: the three tools we switch on for our clients
First winner, the meta tag generator. On a ten-page site, writing ten SEO titles and ten descriptions by hand takes an hour. With the tool, twenty minutes, proofreading included.
It offers three versions per page. You keep one, add your town or your product name, and you are done. It is one of the rare tasks where AI beats the blank page.
Second winner, the text creator for rewording. Not for writing your About page from scratch: the result sounds like every other website. But to shorten a paragraph that runs too long, or turn text into a list, it is precise and fast.
Third winner, product descriptions. A home decor shop we look after had 140 product pages with a single line of text each. In two afternoons, the owner generated and then corrected a 60-word description per product.
Three months later: 140 product pages indexed by Google instead of 40, and product traffic up by roughly a third. The tool did not write the pages. It stopped them from being postponed for another year.
Gimmick, or not yet ready for your site
The AI image creator, first. For a shop, a practice or a restaurant, a generated image is spotted at first glance and damages trust. Your own photos, even taken on a phone, are worth ten times more.
We keep it for one thing only: an abstract background or a blog illustration. Never for a product, a dish, a team or premises.
Harmony, next. Launched in January 2026, Harmony builds a full site from a description, then hands over to the visual editor. Website Builder Expert tested it: the result comes out in a few minutes, and it is included in every plan.
It is impressive for starting from zero, or for mocking up an idea in twenty minutes. But if you already have a Wix Studio site that works, Harmony brings you nothing: it starts from a blank page, not from yours.
Astro, finally. The dashboard assistant answers simple questions correctly: where a setting lives, how to create a coupon. As soon as the question touches your business, it stays generic. Our clients open it once, rarely twice.
One detail is annoying: its panel disappears when you move into the editor, exactly where you would need it.
The rule we apply everywhere: AI suggests, you decide
None of these tools knows your trade, your prices or your customers. It does not know that your speciality is made-to-measure work, or that you do not deliver on Sundays.
A generated text published as is can be recognised. It is smooth, interchangeable, and Google as well as your readers tire of it quickly. Proofread everything, add a figure, a place name, a true anecdote.
The right reflex: ten minutes of generating, twenty minutes of editing. The other way round, you lose your voice, and your voice is the one thing a competitor cannot copy.
Where to start
This week, open the SEO settings of your five most visited pages and regenerate their meta tags. Keep the version that mentions your town or your flagship product.
Find your three longest paragraphs (over 80 words) and ask the text creator to shorten them or turn them into a list.
If you sell online, take your ten most viewed products and generate a 50 to 80 word description for each. Correct materials, dimensions and delivery times.
Mentally switch off the image creator for anything that shows your reality: products, team, premises. Book half a day of phone photos instead.
In a month, compare the reworked pages with the others in Wix Analytics. If nothing moves, the problem is not the text, it is traffic, and that is a different job.
What we take away
Out of the fifteen or so AI tools in Wix, three help right away: meta tags, text rewording and product descriptions. They are already in your plan.
Generated images, Harmony for an existing site and Astro remain curiosities for now. Keep your time for proofreading and personalising what the AI produces.
In a jungle of features, clearing the ground mostly means knowing what you let grow elsewhere.
No time to run your 140 products or your ten pages through the mill? We set it up for you: we switch on the right AI tools on your Wix Studio site, regenerate your meta tags and descriptions, and proofread everything with you.
